About Us

River Source coordinates a Data Sharing Project that includes the creation of Watershed Wiser. The with the support by:
- Cimarron Watershed Alliance (www.cimarronwatershed.org)
- River Network (www.rivernetwork.org)
- New Mexico Forest and Watershed Restoration Institute (www.nmhu.edu/nmfwri)
- New Mexico Riparian Council (www.ripariancouncil.org)
- Opensourcery (www.opensourcery.com)

River Source's data sharing project will be attempt to create open source, free software for individuals and organizations in the public and private sector to organize and present data. For more information about Watershedwiser.org, please see the attached documents.

- Instructions for Watershedwiser.org Users

PLEASE NOTE THAT DATUM FOR WATERSHEDWISER.ORG REQUIRE GPS POINTS IN A PARTICULAR DATUM AND MAP PROJECTION - WGS 84 (datum) & Lat/Lon hddd.dddd (map projects latitude and longitude in decimal degrees. For example, a site at Frenchies Field footbridge in Santa Fe, New Mexico is 35.67314 for latitude and -105.98528 for longitude.

The presence of benthic macroinvertebrates (when we identified them in a sample but didn't count them) is noted in data sets by 0.1 if they were present.

Sampling/Measurement Parameters

A brief overview of parameters. The actual parameters will be described as child pages of this page.

Watershed Wiser asks data generators to provide details on montoring procedures for sampling and analysis in the description of programs and projects and with attached documents to program, project or site location levels. The onus for qualifying the rigor and quality of the data falls primarily on the data generator.

Some words about the alkalinity parameter

Alkalinity measurements help inform data analysis of the toxicity of several metal species on gilled aquatic organisms, particluarly fish.
